UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) becomes the latest partner organization after signing a Memorandum with UNDP for the management of their JPO Programme by the JPO service Centre on occasional cases.
World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought
The World Day to Combat Desertification is celebrated every year on June 17 to highlight the urgent need to curb the process of desertification and to strengthen the visibility of the drylands issue.

Helen Clark, a new administrator for UNDP
Secretary-General BAN Ki-moon chose former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark as new Administrator of UNDP to succeed Kemal Dervis of Turkey.
Contractual Reform
According to the resolution A/RES/63/250, new contractual arrangements will apply to staff members serving in the UN Secretariat, Funds and Programmes, including UNDP, as of 1 July 2009.

11th regional JPO Workshop in Mozambique
The next regional JPO workshop, organized by the JPO Service Centre, will be on "UN Coordination" and take place from 10 May to 15 May 2009 in Mozambique.
DANIDA agrees to third year funding
The Danish International Development Assistance (DANIDA) has agreed to fully fund the JPO programme over a three year period.

Kemal Dervis has decided not to seek a second term as Administrator of UNDP and will leave the Programme in March.
