SARC Induction Courses

Induction Workshop for new Special Assistants to the UN Resident Coordinators and UN Coordination Officers

The workshop has been designed to equip new UN Coordination Officers with key knowledge and skills that will enable them to play a dynamic role in supporting UN Resident Coordinators and UNCTs in achieving the vision of the United Nations at the country level.

Besides focusing on the vision and goals of UN reform, and sharing practical experiences of country level coordination, the workshop will equip the participants with team building skills as well as tips and techniques that will allow them to provide better support to the diverse teams that you work with at the country level. In addition, the workshop will give the participants an opportunity to meet and interact with a large pool of resource persons from across the UN system as well as UNDOCO colleagues who also serve as the Geographical Focal Points for your respective countries.

The workshop will also provide an opportunity for the participants to learn more about the changing roles of the Regional Directors and associated structures as well as the authority and accountability of the RC and UNCT. The UN common country programming process, with emphasis on designing the UNDAF, implementing and monitoring the Results Matrix and achieving the UNDAF goals, with focus on planning, implementing and mobilizing resources together through theme groups, joint programming, and other coordination tools will also be covered.

The next Induction Workshop for new Special Assistants to the UN Resident Coordinators and UN Coordination Officers will take place on 10 - 14 May 2010 in Glen Cove/New York.
